Quickmart is a leading supermarket in Kenya. Established in 2006 in Nakuru Town, Quickmart has followed the footsteps of former retail giants Nakumat who shut down in 2019. Like Nakumat, Quickmart has expanded quickly in a short period, opening up in total 44 stores in 11 counties however, that's where the similarities end between the two. Quickmart has taken a modern approach in terms of marketing and business acumen.

Their marketing has been fresh and easy, as their slogan would suggest, creating content that is modern and vibrant while also collaborating with content creators at any given point to gain traction online.

Currently, there is a viral sensation on TiKTok in Kenya where collaborators are dancing in their (Quickmart) various stores hoping to win a gift voucher but more importantly and more valuable is the 30 seconds of fame that the dance trend is creating. More and more users of the popular social media platform TikTok in Kenya are jumping at the opportunity to shoot the 30-second clip.

Quickmart has demonstrated how important involving the younger generation of content creators is to market a brand in the current digital era. The publicity for them is free, the content created is creating a buzz and best of all everyone will be jumping at the opportunity to visit their stores to shoot a video and of course, buy something.

It's a matter of time to see whether other supermarkets or even businesses will mobilize the youth in marketing their businesses and brands if they want to trend.
